It takes a huge patience to say 'Hasbunallah wanikmal wakil' and to truly Tawakal.

Ustaz, when speaking about a child’s responsibility/respect towards his/her parents Surah Al-Isra verse 23 is always recited to us. Can you help me by guiding me on which Surah in the Quran tells us how to be good parents. And what does it require of me as a parent to my children. I’m afraid that when I grow old I may be toxic to my children. Alhamdulillah for now our relationship is great…alhamdulillah sgt2 but I’m afraid as I grow old my behaviour may change or I may forget…I don’t want to be toxic to my children or burden them in my old age. As such can you guide me on that so that I can be reminded of this always when I recite the Quran. Thank you Ustaz.

Salam Zue. There are stories in the Quran that display the beauty of parenthood and its visible/notable results. e.g. look at the conversations between Prophets Ibrahim a.s. and his son. Then look at the conversation between Prophets Ya’qub a.s. and his son Prophet Yusuf a.s. Then there is an entire surah that proves real love comes with attention, care, and deep respect through meaningful conversation as per surah Luqman. My main takeaway from all these is that somehow, they always communicated with each other with mutual respect. I hope this helps.

Thank you so much Ustaz. It definitely did. I will read the Surah and its interpretation. I will also remember the takeaway from the Surah you mentioned i.e communicating with mutual respect. It is so true especially with my adult children. May I be a good mother to my children until my last breath. Amin. Thank you so much. May Allah keep you in His blessings always.
